“500 Buddhas” is a documentary in pre-production covering events surrounding the Colfax Buddha Mystery in 2005-06.  The goal of this film is to tell the many stories and perspectives of people touched directly and indirectly by prospector Herman Henry’s find of 500 porcelain figures in the American River.  The colorful people highlighted in the film not only have character and charm, but their stories at times both corroborate and differentiate from each others’ accounts.Some of the perspectives covered in this film are from:

  • The Prospector
  • A Local Businessman
  • Law Enforcement
  • Historians and Experts
  • Speculators and Investors
  • The Media
